Hair Relaxer Lawsuit

The lawsuit states that endocrine-disrupting chemicals commonly found in hair relaxer products can cause uterine cancer, specifically the highly toxic manufactured chemical known as DI-2-Ethylhexylphthalate, or DEHP.

The allegations in the lawsuit are against L’Oreal USA Inc. and L’Oreal USA Products Inc., Strength of Nature Global LLC, Soft Sheen Carson (W.I.) Inc., Dabur International Ltd. and Dabur USA Inc., and Namaste Laboratories.

For years, a growing body of medical research has been published by the National Institute of Environmental Health Sciences (NIEHS) and peer reviewed medical journals, raising concerns about the side effects of hair relaxer products. The studies have identified several toxic chemicals frequently used in hair relaxers that may cause cancer, reproductive complications and development issues.

Potential hair relaxer lawsuits are being investigated against manufacturers of several popular products widely marketed throughout the United States, including:

  • Strength of Nature Global: Just for Me and Strength of Nature Olive Miracle.
  • L’Oréal: Motions, Dark & Lovely, Olive Oil Relaxer, and Organic Root Stimulator.
  • Avlon: Affirm
  • Mizani: Mizani Relaxers
  • Atlas Ethnic: Elasta QP Relaxer
  • Namaste Organic Root Girls’ Hair Relaxer System
  • Dabur: ORS Olive Oil Relaxer
